About Us

There are MANY goats you will see around the farm.
- Peppy, the first goat, was donated by someone who said we needed a goat! 
- Lola, who often can be found in the barn was originally acquired to be a milk goat. Howie & honey were also meant to be milk goats.
- The goat herd (or so we like to say!) randomly showed up on the farm in October of 2021 & found shelter at our farm ever since. They have become an integral part of life here at the farm.

Wally was an Amish work horse before being acquired by an auction. The auction was unable to sell Wally and were intending to send him to the slaughter auction. Luckily, we were able to step in and bring this big teddy bear to our sanctuary. He's a gentle giant, but he is still a bit scared of humans due to his past. Wally is best around calm individuals who are able to show a gentle touch.

While Wally can be rode, he is more often the wagon horse.

Breed: Belgian

Onxy is a Rocky Mountain Horse who was being rode by a 260 lb man on the road. The man also did not have time to properly care for him. Onyx was severely malnourished and you could put your hand between his pelvis. After seeing this, we took Onyx in.

Onyx is still a 'work in progress' horse. Jackie is able to ride him, but he is still working on being comfortable with others. You can often see him roaming in the far field!

Breed: Rocky Mountain with more American Saddlebred

Duke came here as a 4-year-old, now - 2024 he is about 16 years old. He was a rescue from someone dumping their animals.

Duke is a trail horse you can ride, pet, and give treats to.

Duke: Rocky Mount with more Morgan

Charlie was purchased by a woman online. After she purchased him he became combative towards people and other horses. He was abandoned & taken in by the sanctuary in 2019.

He now is a trail horse you can ride, pet, and give some treats to! He is very friendly, though he can be a bit stubborn!

Breed: Gaited Saddle Horse

Jade has been here since about 2018. She had never been out of a paddock or stall at a horse barn. She was given to someone who was working there at the time by the owner. Jade's board and feed cost $1,000-$1,200 a month. Due to the cost, the person who has given Jade could not afford to keep her when the property sold.

We take Jade in once she was no longer able to keep her. Jade is now a trail horse and a beautiful giant who loves to be outdoors.

Breed: Percheron 

Zeke was being sent to slaughter. He was likely an Amish work horse, was under weight, with bad arthritis. He is now on a medication that is helping a lot!

Gigi was brought here. She was a show barn horse that had never been outside. She was bottle fed and still has the mentality of a child.

Breed: Registered Quarter Horse

Rosie was with a woman who had rescued 2 horses. She only wanted to keep 1. Rosie had a dislocated neck and is still a little skittish because of that injury!

Breed: American Quarter Horse with more of an original quarter foundation

Kitty was traded to be kept here and properly cared for. She has done some combined training competitions and is a lesson horse.

Breed: Thoroughbred

Curley is a half-brother to grasshopper. He was bred by Jackie. His mother was a Shetland mare and he is half Andalusian! 

Bruno is Diva's brother and Grasshoppers child! He was bred by Jackie. He graded 1st premium at 6 months as an American Sport Pony.

Diva is Bruno's sister and Grasshoppers child! She was bred by Jackie. She is an American Sport Pony.

Grasshopper was raised for dressage, driving, and jumping. He is an Andalusian/Sport Pony. He is registered and graded as a 1st premium American Sport Pony. He has shown and competed in dressage and driving.

Pillsbury, formally known as Ceiling, was bought for a pet as a 4-year-old. Later surrendered. Facing slaughter, we were able to rescue Pillsbury who has since found a home here!
